Abbey Wood ruins being reclaimed by nature
Looking out over the ruins – the large column bases on the left mark where the chapel was, to the right are the cloisters and sleeping areas
A remaining doorway in an otherwise crumbling wall
Cool, a grave in a field that used to be a chapel!
Windows in the abbey wall
The lovely bluebell wood near the abbey (hence Abbey Wood) – a remaining area of ancient forest, relatively unchanged since mediaeval times
Some not so local wildlife (the squirrel in the tree) apparently these squirrels are interlopers that are pushing the smaller local ones into extinction. Cute though!
Some local wildlife – well we hope it’s native anyway
A nice picture of us enjoying the bluebells
Close up of lovely bluebells – an endangered and protected species
